A Royal Experience in DTLA, Complete with Pizza at Faith and Flower
A mini NYC, some have likened DTLA to. And though in some regards I would agree, getting TO the restaurants in DTLA is a completely different story. Subways, cabs, and foot traffic allow for New Yorkers to make it to their destination restaurant easily. For the vast majority of Angelenos living elsewhere in the city, parking can be the main deterrent. We can’t just walk a few blocks to our fave downtown restaurant, or take the subway. An Uber could be an option but cab-fare would be insane, so coming to DTLA is a battle for parking. But, if you can handle a bit of a walk or the extra few bucks for a valet or an uber, Faith and Flower is a spot worth trekking for.
Not many restaurants can appeal to so many different types of Angelenos the way Faith and Flower has do so so seamlessly. Though the restaurant is large in square footage, they’ve captured an intimate feel with spacing and decor. A good dim lighting can make any place intimate and cozy and that’s just what F&F has capitalized on. The main dining area is one sprawling ‘rectangle’, with a wall complete with windows and door to create the feel of an additional separate dining room. On the opposite side of the dining area is a well designed bar area, making again a large space feel intimate and cozy.
The menu has as much of a royal approach to it as the decor inside. The decadence of all the fixtures and chandeliers lends itself to a royal palace, while the food isn’t far behind in appeal either. You’ll find elegant menu items like the Stuffed Delicata Squash and the Jidori Chicken Breast Francese, and while staying true their ability to reach a wide range of people, you’ll also a handful of approachable pizzas and pastas.
I’m crossing my fingers hoping it’s safe to dine inside soon, because it is such a great aesthetic but until then, patio dining with reservation is available from 10:30am - 2:30pm for brunch, and 5pm - 9pm for dinner.
