The Look and Feel of Class at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel
It’s not the first time I’ve written about an incredible avocado toast and it probably won’t be the last. There’s something equally magical and infuriating about the idea of paying $19 for a smashed fruit (yes that’s right, avocado is not actually a vegetable but a single seeded berry) on a single piece of toasted bread. I might be able to smash my own avocado onto a piece of toast, sprinkle some of ‘Everything but the Bagel’ seasoning on it and save about $15 in the process. But what you don’t get with your own homemade avocado toast is the environment of where you’re eating said avo toast.
At Santa Monica Proper Hotel, you pay for the $15 dollar avocado toast but the environment you get to relax to with it is the perfect aesthetic. On the corner of 7th and Wilshire in Santa Monica, this spot has been in the works for years under construction. And now that’s opened, it’s obvious to see it was WELL worth the wait. You don’t have to be a guest of the hotel to enjoy the perks of lounge areas and rooftop bar which are as equally aesthetically pleasing as the food and drinks are delicious.
