Churros. The crunchy, sugary, fried dough delight we love to indulge in at fairs and carnivals and maybe even an occasional Taco Bell run. Thankfully now, since Churro Borough has opened, we don't have to brave the county fairs or even the Taco Bell drive through to get a taste of that fried delight. As the name explains of itself, this place is chalk full of churros, in more forms than you could imagine. Their most popular churro treat... The Original Churro Ice Cream Sandwich.
In the fall of 2011, LA dreamer, Sylvia Yoo launched a catering business consisting of ice cream churro sandwiches in pop ups all across LA. It didn't take too long for the idea to catch on and the demand to grow. After a few years of working in the interior design world full time with the dessert business as just a hobby, the demand on her churro ice cream sandwiches finally brought her to the decision of making it her full time gig. Churro Borough made it's way into a cozy corner of Los Feliz.
Her childhood memories of churros mashed up with her love for ice cream was the originator of the Original Churro Sandwich, which sustained her business for some time. Since opening a storefront, Sylvia has expanded the menu to paletas (Latin American ice pop), churro fries, milkshakes and an assortment of pastries. Unique and creative flavors like the Spanish Latte, Horchata Sherbert, and Vanilla Custard fill the menu with rotating seasonal flavors.
Taking on the small batch philosophy, Churro Borough puts their faith in quality over quantity. Everything is hand crafted fresh daily from all local ingredients. To add to their devotion to investing in the community around them, they also commissioned an LA based artist to paint the public mural that spans across the front of their shop. As summer approaches, Churro Borough is the spot to check out.
