the spot.

Established in 1973 as what was then known as Warszawa in Berkeley, Chef / Founder Elina O’Lague brought her taste of Poland to Santa Monica in 1978. Originally a single family home off Lincoln Street, the home was converted into the restaurant it is today with a lot of the original part of the house still standing today. The indoor dining is charming and small, and a backyard patio area with multiple fire pits and a TV playing classic movies, the whole area centered around a large Feijoa Tree.

the menu.

The menu remains largely the same, keeping the same authentic Polish dishes untouched decades later. You’ll find classic Polish dishes like their savory crepes with an option of spinach or wild mushroom and their schnitzel, made with breaded chicken or pork, served with mashed potatoes. Popular to the menu are their pierogis, in the starter section. Flavors include cheese & potato, mushroom & sauerkraut, beef & onion, and chicken with sorrel sauce.

the deets.

Reservations are encouraged but walk ins are welcome. Happy hour runs Tuesday through Friday, 5pm-7pm serving pierogis, small plates, and a selection of drinks.
