A Taste of Italy in the Heart of Santa Monica
The resurgence in restaurant life we’ve been seeing in LA is a welcomed change after bidding adieu to so many great restaurants unable to make it through the pandemic. Where some restaurants sat empty for months, now we’re seeing great place after great place open up as the world comes out of it's pandemic induced slumber. Then there are the extra brave souls that despite all odds, made the risky choice to open up their restaurant in the middle of a pandemic. After 3 years of vacancy after the restaurant, Nawab of India closed its doors, La Puglia decided to take the plunge and open up in December 2020.
Off of Wilshire and 17th, La Puglia offers Santa Monica a new Italian restaurant and bakery. Open for all meals, La Puglia gives you a taste of Italy whatever time of day you are craving it. Everything is made in house daily from fresh ingredients, making some incredibly authentic and unpronounceable menu items. (Have google up and ready, it’s no joke.) During the day, the space feels open and light, like a fresh way to start your day, making you feel like you might just have stumbled across an Italian crosswalk into Italy. At night, the place transforms to a dimly lit romantic dinner spot, with scenes of Italian countryside playing on it’s back wall. The interior design is minimalist and sleek, putting all the attention on the flavor of the food and the wine you’ll pair it with.
