Pink's Hot Dogs
Landmark hot dog shop.
The iconic Pink’s Hot Dogs. In a day and age where branding and vibe is everything, Pink’s wouldn’t necessarily catch your eye for its aesthetics. The multiple neon barrage of signs certainly will but still, this self proclaimed, “little hot dog stand that could” has outlasted every other restaurant in LA. It’s not so grand opening in 1939 included just one small pushcart, 10 cent hot dogs, and 5 cent cokes.
After decades of success, you’ll now find over 35 different hot dog variations on the menu and an expansion of multiple locations throughout the LA area and beyond. In the original LA Brea location, you’ll experience the place it all started and a 45 minute wait in line to do so. The cafe is charming and very kitschy, with over 200 photos of celebrities who have graced the once hot dog stand. A small patio area in the back serves as an additional dining area as well.
You won’t come for the ambience or the dining experience, but if you’re into hot dogs, you’ll love it. It may not be something you write home about, but it’s a definite must see on the LA bucket list.
