Where to Find "The Phantom of the Aperol" Cocktail in DTLA

If you talk to most any New Yorker, they'll tell you of the love affair they have with the city. Kathleen Kelly in You've Got Mail, Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. The list goes on of the people who've memorialized their love for the big apple on the silver and small screen. Our downtown doesn’t quite live up to the skyscrapers of NYC, but to any NYC romantic, the Library Bar makes you feel right at home, as if you were sitting at a corner bar off Manhattan’s Broadway and Union.

The space opens up to a library type living room on one side, and the bar itself on the wall opposite it. An additional small area of seating lies just beyond the bar but the tufted leather couches surrounded by a candlelit fire place and shelves lined with books is the place to sit.

Covid restrictions have blocked the use of this quaint indoor library seating area, but as with most of LA’s resilient restaurants/bars, the Library Bar has expanded their patio seating.

Remember it’s in Downtown LA and if there’s an area in LA that could be deemed the hardest for parking, it’s (West Hollywood and) DTLA. Think ahead if you’d rather uber or add to your budget for the night a parking garage fee.

Their tribute to old classic novels, fitting right in with the theme of the bar, will give you cocktails with the names “The Lion, The Whiskey, and The Wardrobe”, “Tequila Mockingbird” and “Of Mice and Mezcal”. You’ll find classic bar foods like the Charred Brussel Sprouts and the Chicken Sandwich. Hours are limited so make sure you carve out some time to visit this sweet ode to bookworm life between Wednesday to Saturday, 6pm -10pm
