At first glance, Manuela seems to be yet another hip restaurant in the Arts District. It doesn’t take long to realize that a rich experience of culture and art await you inside (and around) the restaurant. Manuela is apart of and located in the middle of a Hauser and Wirth gallery. Hauser and Wirth opened their arms to a sixth location in Los Angeles, after successfully establishing four other world renown locations in Sweden, London, Hong Kong and New York. It was a sweet surprise to learn that the name of the restaurant is in honor of one of the co founders of Hauser and Wirth, Mrs. Manuela Wirth. After cofounding the art gallery with her husband Ivan Wirth and Ursula Hauser in 1993, Manuela has since moved on to nurturing artists around her, leaving the mega business to Ivan. Similar to the muse it’s named after, Manuela the restaurant converges the experience of chef, farmer, and artist.

Multiple rotating artists are on display inside the walls of the Mamuela dining room, ensuring the footprint of artistry stay very present inside the restaurant. . This conversion of approachability, fine art, and excellent cuisine under one roof creates the most inspiring experience. Red exposed brick and industrial style lighting and fixtures decorate the inside dining area as the smallest area. The surrounding patios house most of the experience with a plethora of greenery to provide the garden experience. The garden experience doesn’t just end at the patio. To continue the theme of joining art, chef, and farmer, Manuela also houses a full garden in which fresh herbs and vegetables are grown. And it doesn’t just stop there. Grab a drink while you wait for a table and check out the chicken coop that just so happens to also be apart of Manuela experience. (Don’t worry, you won’t be eating the chicken you just saw outside, they are just egg laying chickens.)

Patio brunch, lunch, and dinner are available but limited and only by reservation. If you’re not feeling ready to go out, Manuela is also offering only a dinner menu for take-out and delivery (within 10 miles)
