A Visit to Your Tia's Patio at This Casita Bar

A gorgeous candlelit Spanish style staircase leading you upstairs to an open bar area overlooking the coolest part of Sunset Blvd is the first way Bar Flores will steal your attention. The casita looking bar anchoring the room with an incredible collection of all the right tequilas to fuel your stay there will keep you hanging for a while. And although we haven’t crossed back into indoor dining in California, a handful of tall bar tables mixed throughout the dining room, several banquets, and bar stools lining the bar and the window overlooking Sunset will settle you in for the best Echo Park bar vibe.
It’s a challenging endeavor to set yourself apart as a cool bar from the over-saturation of hip spots in LA. But Bar Flores really has accomplished that with the vibe, the interior, the incredible staff, and that hidden surprise of a patio in the back. After climbing the gorgeous stairs into what feels like someone’s rather cool attic, you can almost instantly smell the scent of tacos wafting in, beckoning you outside to consume said taco. The sloping hills of the Echo Park/Los Feliz/Silverlake areas create the ability to have that surprise second-story patio. Furnished with the most eclectic of patio furniture, featuring stringed lights everywhere and that incredible smelling taco station, you definitely will feel like you’ve made it home to your Tia’s house.
Originally a pop-up speakeasy called “Sip”, founder Karla Flores-Mercado made her way into a permanent location and renamed it Bar Flores last August. (Cheers to the girl boss!) In addition to the taco station outside, the bar has also teamed up with its sister restaurant downstairs, Adamae, to curate a menu experience alongside their excellent offerings of Mezcal Penicillins and Tequila Sours. With their electric patio experience, the greatest of staff, and take out and delivery options, Bar Flores has easily won our hearts as one of the main Echo Park spots to support and enjoy.
