A Little Bit of Parisian Magic at Cafe Birdie

An experience at Cafe Birdie is something like a quick trip to the most magical part of Paris you could imagine. Though Highland Park has found its way to the top of burgeoning LA neighborhoods, Figueroa Street hasn’t had a restaurant quite like this. With a marble topped bar and tables centering the restaurant with rich black seats and a banquette almost reflecting the sage green trimming of the bar, the elevated design creates the perfect dining experience.

In their second project together, the duo who created Horse Thief BBQ in Grand Central Market, have proven the versatility in opening the very different feel that is Cafe Birdie. Horse Thief BBQ, their first project together, is a primarily patio, picnic experience. Served on trays you’d get at camp, the relaxed outdoor experience provides a nostalgic nod to simpler times. Not compromising on experience or taste at either location, Cafe Birdie also provides a family style cuisine, but this time paired with a drool worthy bar and craft cocktails.

Also gifted with a patio area, Cafe Birdie’s charm extends to the back area as well. Staying on brand with the Parisian theme, the patio feels like a small European cobblestoned sidewalk cafe, minus the cobblestone. Exposed red brick walls with stringed lights and just enough space to get from the back door to your seat, the experience outside is just as magical.

As COVID 19 has changed a lot of normal life, the menu and dining availability at Cafe Birdie seems to be changing to accommodate the ever changing times we’re in. Initially completely shut down due to COVID, take out wasn’t available until May. The good news, however, is that dining in is now available! Hours of operation for dine in are limited, from Wednesday to Sunday, 5pm to 9pm. Some of our old favorites were The Morrocan spiced fried chicken with harissa aioli and the pork cheek ragu and the Old Fashion Date. Call or get online to make your reservation to experience the new magic being offered at our wonderful Cafe Birdie.
