Fiesta Hour at El Cholo
You know that saying, “Can’t get enough of a good thing”? Well, that’s how we feel about El Cholo. With multiple locations scattered around LA, we especially love the Santa Monica location. A breezy patio just a few blocks up from the beach and a happy hour called fiesta hour makes the perfect fiesta summer hang. Though we’re in the middle of Covid 19 closures, something to look forward to when this is all said and done, are El Cholo’s Fiesta Hour, Monday through Friday from 3pm-6:30pm. Their classic margarita on happy hour the perfect end of the workday treat.
El Cholo’s rich history of almost 100 years can be seen in the celebration of their heritage printed in their menus. Each dish has a year dated next to it, highlighting what year it was created. An impressive sight to see dishes that were created in 1923 and 1967 printed in the menu. You won’t experience the pricing of a neighborhood taco truck, but you will experience the authenticity of one. Their dishes are moderately priced but prepared with excellence.
Their filet mignon tacos were awarded best taco in 2010 and we’re not surprised. If you’re looking for something still delicious but not completely smothered in guac and sour cream, any of their fajita dish options (shrimp, steak, chicken or vegetable medley served over a sizzling plate of freshly sautéed vegetables) will fill you up and give you room for dessert.
What to expect during Covid 19
El Cholo has temporarily closed its doors while the stay at home order is in effect, but plans to reopen once it is safe to do so.
