Named for founder Fran Camaj’s mother, Gjelina opened on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in 2008, serving locally-sourced, produce-forward food and becoming a staple in the Venice community. With dark walls, wood paneled ceilings, and brick cobblestone under foot, the vibe is moody and romantic. Open all day with menus to match the time of day. Monday through Friday breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon menus are available throughout the day, while Saturday and Sunday a brunch menu takes over from 8am-2:30pm. Dinner service starts at 5pm.

Dinner menus include complex yet approachable plates like the Mushroom Toast made with Confit Garlic, Crème Fraîche, White Wine, and Thyme, or the Saffron Spaghetti, made with Bottarga, Confit Tomato, Garlic, Calabrian Chile, and Breadcrumb A delicious and creative variety of pizzas are available like the Fennel Salami, with Pomodoro, Shaved Fennel, Calabrian Chili, Mozzarella and the Lamb Sausage, with Asiago, Confit Tomato, Rapini, and Pecorino. The menu also includes a variety of charcuterie and cheese plates.

The group has spawned over the last decade from one restaurant, Gjelina, to now the Gjusta Bakery, GTA (take away is currently closed), Gjusta Goods (retail store), Gjusta Grocer (market and grocery), Gjusta Flower Shop, Gjusta Apartment, and their nonprofit Gjelina Foundation and Gjusta Studios.
