[Affectionately referred to as] Weho is not necessarily a geographical area in which you would reminisce as a ‘country home’ vibe. Stuck in the heart of Los Angeles, West Hollywood is a true concrete jungle filled lined with oversized billboards and the very active buzz of the Sunset Strip. So to find an oasis away from the noise is the gift you never knew you needed.
Inside the 1 Hotel West Hollywood lies this charming getaway, the Juniper Lounge. Good news with parking, there is an affordable lot across the street, with up to 10 hours of ‘pay-per-hour’ parking. (Anyone in West Hollywood knows that’s a find, most places are a flat rate.) As you enter the hotel, it doesn’t take long before you are taken aback by the sheer grandness of the hotel. You’ll soon find that the Juniper lounge is around the corner and down a level. To add to the uniqueness of the hotel, the main way to access the the lounge is a long sloping pathway, practically the size of a two lane freeway. The pathway is littered with calming candle fixtures and plants to ease you into the transition from city craziness to country oasis.
1 Hotel is not local to Los Angeles, but West Hollywood is their first West Coast location and Juniper Lounge is specific only to West Hollywood. Handcrafted cocktails made with ingredients from an on-site, fully organic garden, premium and approachable spirits, California and Mediterranean wines, and local craft beers are available at Juniper with a market driven bar menu. The relaxation you will instantly feel as you sink into one of their overstuffed couches or lounge chairs is just what the doctor ordered after braving the Sunset Blvd traffic.
