Bodega Wine Bar

“Coffee Until Wine”, a slogan you’ll embrace when you’re at Bodega Wine Bar. First opening in 2006 with just wine and beer, over the years Santa Monica has turned into “Silicon Beach”. Silicon Beach has gotten it’s nickname through the numerous tech companies that have moved into the area. As the owners recall, when they first opened the casual wine bar, there wasn’t a lot of foot traffic. Since over 500 tech companies have moved into the area and turned the beach-side town into an industrial hub, it only made since to open up the possibility of a wine bar turned coffee bar during the day.

This sort of set up is a rare find and they have done it right. During the day, coffee is served and laptops are welcome until 5pm. (Beer and wine are available all day) And of course, with your pick me up coffee, you need some pick me up lunch, and Bodega offers just that. You’ll find lunch bites ranging from a veggie burrito, breakfast burrito, to flatbreads and pizzas, flavored creatively like the goat cheese and brussel sprout pizza.

As with most areas of Santa Monica, parking can be tricky. Some streets are only unavailable unless you have a permit. There are plenty of meters ranging up to 9 hours of parking time. The layout of the cafe/bar is breezy and casual, with two sitting areas next to floor to ceilings windows that are open during the day. Whether it’s a couple hours of work with a coffee or a couple glass of wine with friends, Bodega Wine bar seems to offer it all.
