There are a few places in Santa Monica you’ll rarely see a local hanging out at. Ocean Avenue near the Santa Monica is just that place. A major hot spot for tourism, but spots like Blue Plate Taco make crossing into enemy lines worthwhile.
You’ll come for the tacos (tacos and plates range from $16-$30) but you’ll most definitely stay (and pay) for the decor. The chairs are made from saddle leather, the vintage floor tiles are sourced from France and Spain, and who doesn't love a good hanging woven basket chandelier. Pair one of their many specialty cocktails on the menu with their crispy calamari tacos and you’ve got yourself a proper Santa Monica tourist day.
