Bar Flores

My first experience with Bar Flores was just weeks before the pandemic broke out and respectively shut down the entire world. You can imagine my disappointment upon finding out I wouldn’t be able to return for months. Finding out that the Bar Flores doors would be opening again on June 12th was that good piece of news I’d been waiting for since late February.

A gorgeous candlelit Spanish style staircase leads you upstairs to an open bar area overlooking the coolest part of Sunset Blvd. The casita looking bar anchors the room with an incredible collection of all the right tequilas to fuel your stay there. With a handful of tall bar tables mixed throughout the dining room, several banquets, and bar stools lining the bar and the wall overlooking Sunset, there is ample amount of seating.

A few things make this bar so unique and cool, one being the staircase leading up to it, making it feel like you’re going to someone’s attic for a drink. Another is the patio. While you stand at the bar to order a drink, the smell of tacos waft in, beckoning you outside to consume. You wouldn’t imagine a patio being available on a second story floor but somehow they’ve done it! With a very eclectic mix of patio furniture, string lights everywhere, and a taco station, you’ve most definitely made it to your Tia’s house.

Originally a pop up speakeasy called “Sip”, founder Karla Flores-Mercado made her way into a permanent location and renamed it Bar Flores last August. (Cheers to the girl boss!) In addition to the taco station outside, the bar has also teamed up with it’s sister restaurant downstairs, Adamae, to curate a menu experience alongside your Mezcal Penicillin or Tequila Sour.

Bar Flores is working hard to adhere to all CDC guidelines to keep the bar socially distanced and safe. It’s 100% worth the visit but if you’re not quite ready to get out in public yet, take a look at their take-out menu, which includes to-go cocktails!
